The Different Door Thicknesses for Kitchen Cabinets
Cabinet doors generally range from 1/2" to 3/4" inch. When there is a good door materialcombined with a good thickness, the end product is a strong and durable door for your kitchen cabinets.
3/4" Thickness for Cabinet Doors
Cabinet doors that use a 3/4" thickness for their material are the strongest and most durable. Many cabinet lines will offer this combination solely at the highest upgrade level but it is standard on all of our cabinets.
5/8" Thickness for Cabinet Doors
Many cabinet lines use a 5/8" thick material for their cabinet doors. As you can see in the image to the left, it is noticeably thinner than a 3/4" thickness. At this point, durability begins to be compromised.
1/2" Thickness for Cabinet Doors
Once you start getting into the 1/2" range, you really start sacrificing quality. You can see how much of a difference it really is from 3/4" and that it would be much more prone to any type of damaging or warping. This thickness should be avoided if you are looking for strong and durable cabinets.
